AUTUMN TERM

Classical and Contemporary Audition Technique and Preparation

Our experienced teachers will help our actors prepare and perform with confidence a large variety of audition monologues for their applications to drama school or universities.
We wil give detailed tuition on classical and contemporary monologue technique and delivery, and help with how to choose appropriate pieces and the best ways to showcase your suitability for a competitive audition process.
We work on 1st round, self tape preparation, in person 2nd round recalls and singing auditions if needed.
We provide detailed tuition in Shakespearean verse speaking for early stage actors and in modern approaches to contemporary text.
We also give our actors the option of
1-2-1 or group sessions over the course of the term depending on individual preference.

WINTER TERM

Scene Study,
Text Analysis
and Characterisation

In this term our actors develop their understanding of how to analyse texts and some of the traditional methods available to help acheive this within larger scenes.
We build upon the existing skills developed through monologue work to reveal deeper layers of individual meaning and build a more authentic connection to character and text.
By integrating our actors personal response to the material we uncover a psychologically dynamic and organic approach, helping our actors to develop a broader understanding of how to approach a play and bring a sense of immediacy and life to performances.
We also develop our undertsanding of characterisation with the Michael Chekhov Technique, emphasising the importance of imagination, physicality, and embodied gesture when creating psychological truth within our characters.

SPRING TERM

Active Analysis, Method of Physical Action and Final Performance

Here we begin to apply an understanding of Stanislavski's active text analysis and psychophysicality, bringing in professional rehearsal technique in preparation for our final performance.
By utilising Stanislavski's Active Analysis and Method of Physical Action we encourage our actors to explore a play through physical action and character interplay rather than relying on intellectual analysis.
We explore how to build a strong understanding of character and how the dynamic between that and ourselves creates a believable and engaging performance.
The term ends with a public performance of a chosen set text that showcases and celebrates our actors new skills and development.

OPTIONAL WEEKEND MASTERCLASSES

On Weekends we will hold optional additional masterclasses for our students to deepen their practice in relation to the weekly classes.
These will range from Shakespeare, Mindful Meisner Technique, Clowning, Screen Acting, Corporeal Mime, Viewpoints and more..
